And...I now have two reasons to want an ignore poster button. (I'm sure you do to) Thanks Acadian. Sanctimonius bastards. Yeah, it's the whiskey talking, but I've had a bad day and zero patience at the moment for the whole "Jeeeeheeesuuuuss" talks to me crap.

How do I have everlasting life?
by soulfinder inhere is a scripture that explains just that.. john 5:39-40.
39you are searching the scriptures, because you think that by means of them you will have everlasting life; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me.. 40and yet you do not want to come to me that you may have life.. jesus clearly explains that it is not through the scriptures that we have everlasting life.

I can't really help you, but before I was a dub I was big time into pnp rpgs. AD&D, Twighlight 2000, etc. Lots of fun back then. I refereed (the generic non-D&D name for a Dungeon Master) games at a few conventions and had a good time with that. Thanks for brining up the good memory!

Oops, that's suppossed to say "bringing". Can't imagine how I would brine a memory. Must be the whiskey I'm drinking.

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Tigerman inis homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

A couple of thoughts...
My wife and I were treated for a few years by a sister who did the homeopathic thing. This is how the "medicines", herbs, drugs, or whatever you want to call them were described:
sass_my_frass: in that description, "small doses" hardly covers it. More like, "doses so small no amount of the original substance could possibly be in the preparation."
But we didn't just take the little drops of horrible tasting stuff she perscribed. She had this machine that we would get hooked up to. She would have a person hold a brass looking cylinder wired to a machine, and then she would poke you in different spots with another brass looking thing which was also wired to the machine. I think the idea was to push on the same spots that are used in accupuncture. Depending on the reading that showed up on the machine, she would suppossedly know what organ or body system was "inflamed", thereby needing a cure. The machine would make this weird beeping/buzzing noise when she would apply her "poker" doohickey (therebye completeing the electrical circuit). Interestingly, the harder she pushed that doohickey into you, the worse off you were (it would change the reading on the machine - I can only imagine because of better electrical contact) - you would need a higher dose of her expensive mediine then. I didn't figure that out for awhile. I don't know if any of you know what that method or machine thing was called, but I think it was from Europe. I would be curious to remember what it was called. BTW, none of the expensive stuff she sold us ever did squat.
Second thought:
I seem to be noticing on this thread that chiropractors are being at times mentioned in with alternative therapies (with negative conoctations). I find this interesting since I have never considered them to be so. The chiroprator I started going to a few years back helped me a great deal. He is just a regular doctor type guy with special tables in his exam rooms so you can lay down and he can set the vertebrae back into place. Mine go out of adjustment because of a car wreck I had when I was a kid. Nothing weird or quacky about my doctor at all. Just a guy who knows a whole lot about how a spine should look when it is in alignment. I just go there a few times a year when things pop out of place and he just gives a few shoves in the right spots and I'm right as rain. Why do some here consider that quackery? Just wondering.

Count me in. Good author, that Dawkins. Blind Watchmaker is nice. Working on God Delusion at the moment. I got it for Christmas - which strikes me as quite amusing.

Jesus is the judge
by soulfinder inhere is a scripture showing the position that jesus holds, and is a good reason to honor him.. honor the father and the sonjohn 5:16-23 .
16 for this reason the jews persecuted jesus, and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
17 but jesus answered them, my father has been working until now, and i have been working.

Little Drummer Boy:
The voices you suffered from may have been an unclean spirit or a demon.
As far as giving myself the credit, I have to walk with the Lord, and yes there is some responsibility, but He definately carried me through a lot.
As far as being part of a bad organization, did you know that you don't have to join a church to know Jesus? I think that maybe you are putting on Him the pain they caused you, and I would highly reccomend just going to the Lord by yourself. You don't have to join a church, do any work, or even read a bible. Please don't judge God based upon any organization, or anything that other people have done to you, because the blame for those actions reside on the people who did them, not on the Lord Himself.
No, they weren't demunz in my head, they were a chemical imbalance that was fixed very nicely with medication. As far as the joining a bad organization blah, blah, blah throw away comment you made, if you actually read what I wrote, you would see that the search for Jesus came before the borg joining. Got it now? And oh holy crap, what the hell was I thinking, dip me in butter and call me Sally, gee golly dang, it sure looks like I fed a forum troll with my first post. So...I'm out of this one.

Hello soulfinder,
I recommend a medicine called Depakote (not joking). It made the voices in my head stop after the third day I started taking it. Might work for you to.
Also, it seems to me that you have experienced some positive changes in your life (although giving up metal isn't one of them). I submit to you that you aren't giving yourself enough credit for the changes, but instead are giving the credit to "Jeeeeeheeeesus". Dude, give credit where credit is due. If you stopped taking drugs, that was your own will power and stength. Another possibiliy that hasn't been made clear to me by your story is that maybe you simply lost the addiction to the drugs because you were in prison and couldn't get your fix. Either way, Jesus didn't solve your problems.
I used to pray for Jesus to be a part of my life. What did that get me? A 14 year long cult membership in the borg. Since I was very sincere, and the dubs are a nasty organization, my only conclusions have to be that either: 1) Jesus was just feeling mean that day and let me and my family suffer for 14 years and go through a whole bunch of crap, or 2) (more likely) there is no Jesus.
Have a nice day.

I wasn't going to comment on this thread. I really wasn't. I swear, I swear, I swear I wasn't.
But...when I read this:
After reading this i can gladly say..thank God Nirvana came along!!
I find that I must say:
As a former musician (semi-pro) who was in a few bands during the late 80's/early90's, all I can say is that I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I read that.
OK, so now that I'm posting, I might as well ruffle a few feathers (friendly like).
Nirvana...Uhg. What can I say? They had a similar effect like the Beatles did on music. With regard to heavier music, starting with Nirvana, it became (once again - as with the Beatles) acceptable to notbe able to play an instrument or sing and yet still become famous. Wait, wait, wait...bear with me here. For a very long time after them, and even to this day, any jackass could/can walk into a pawn shop, buy an old Fender guitar, and think they are a musician worthy of a record deal. To clarify, I am here bemoaning the reality of what happens in the music biz, not what should happen. If you are a good musician, you should get ahead. Sadly, it doesn't happen that way many times. The excellent band, Pearl Jam, not withstanding, it was certainly quite sad that Alternative Metal in general put the nail in the coffin of regular Heavy Metal/Speed Metal. I feel I deserve the right to make those statements based on the fact that I worked and practiced for a very, very long time to get quite good at playing and it offends me what some bands get away with (past or present).
While it is certainly true that old Jimmy H and other (borderline) Heavy Metal acts were creative, many were not actually all that talented. Just....different. And I say borderline, because many bands have been mentioned that can't rightly be called "Metal". I think somebody mentioned Zepplin. Huh? Sorry, that's not metal - but I digress. Steppenwolf was mentioned. I can't even tell you how many times I have had to play "Born to Be Wild" while on some smokey stage in a bar. I cringe every time I hear that song now. Sorry, but from a strictly musical standpoint that song bites. Seriously, no offense, but it really does. But, they (and others) did open some doors of creativity. You get excellent, excellent bands like Iron Maiden coming along after them. Certain Heavy Metal bands like Iron Maiden are a bit like Mozart on crack. (talent level-wise)
Many metal bands from the 80's had a few catchy songs, but you can't rightly lump the Quiet Riots, Motley Crues, Poisons, and Ratts of the world in with bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Queensryche, and Metallica. (rant on) With the qualifier on Metallica of strictly albums 2, 3 and 4 (Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice for All) being good - and no they have not returned to their roots with St. Anger as was mentioned - they still suck haaaaaard like they have done ever since the black album/hair cutting fiasco. If you don't agree, go back and listen to Ride the Lightning, or even better, Master of Puppets. That was actual musicianship. Not white trash, NASCAR loving, infantile, crap. NASCAR reference is from Fuel (a song I despise). "Gimme' fuel, Gimme' fire, Gimme' that which I desire". Oh...my...frigging...God...vomit. What stupid, stupid, crap. (rant off )
What was my point agsin?...er...I don't remember now.
Damn them dubs for making me quit playing music!
BTW, if any of you get a chance to see Queensryche performing their current Operation Mindcrime tour, it is a cool experience. Be forwarned that it is not a "concert" but rather a rock opera type experience - both of their Mindcrime albums are concept albums. They play both albums all the way through from start to finish with one break between the two albums. I don't recommend it unless you at least own Mindcrime 1 though. It will seem ...."weird".
Good night everybody!

Why I'm mad at god.
by Abandoned inthe past couple of days, i've been posting a lot about how disappointed and even disgusted i am with god and how he runs his universe.
i guess that probably offends some people.
i don't intend to make people feel bad, but here's what's been going on in my life lately:.

Little Drummer Boy
Hi Abandoned,
Just saw your thread here and I don't know if I have any words in me that will help. I don't know if I can sooth you or make you feel better. But know this, I care about you. We all care about you. I don't know if there is a god or not and if there is why he/she/it would put us through all that we go through. I have enormous respect for you being in the medical field and taking care of patients like you describe in your post. My wife is a nurse and worked at a nursing home for years (although she doesn't anymore). I could only barely begin to imagine what she had to go through, but I know it was hell sometimes. The endless paperwork, inspections, patient relatives who would give the staff a hard time, and just the general depressing mood of such a facility are something I could never handle. I'm just not tough enough. Like her though, you must be in that line of work because you are one of the people in this world who really cares about and wants to help others. You are able to go in there day after day and put up with all the crap so that you can get down to the real business of taking care of those that need it. You are amazing for that.
I hope that something in what I said helps a little. If you ever need to talk or vent or whatever, please feel free to pm me here or email me on the myspace account.
Yours with warm friendship,
LDB
